Edmeston 10-18-04

Thanks to all who attended the Turkey Dinner, sponsored by the Fire Department and
Auxiliary. Over 100 take out dinners were served and at least that many or more eat-in
dinners. It's great to see such support as if any of us has an emergency, we expect these
people to respond.

Bob and Helen Alcott have returned from an enjoyable trip to Branson.

On October 10th, 35 members of the Smith Family gathered to help Sonny Smith
(a patient at Chase Nursing Home) celebrate her 80th Birthday. Happy Birthday, Sonny!

Many people took advantage of the book sale, Saturday, sponsored by the Edmeston
Free Library.

The Edmeston Rotary Club will once again be sponsoring a Halloween Party. This will
be held at the School on Saturday evening, October 30th, and starts at 6:30 P.M.

Several couples have recently purchased homes in Edmeston. Congratulations on your purchases and welcome to our community: Mike and Jenilee Bolton the Marge Rowlands home on South Street Shawn and Regina Pylinski, the Howard Lull home on South Street Vincent and Tina VanVorst, the Mary Whiting home on North Street
John and Shelly Wust have moved into the Willie Wust home on South Street

New home owners, Mark and Amy Bolton, are now the new parents of a daughter. Arissa Bolton was born September 23, 2004 at Bassett Hospital and weighed 6lbs 10 oz.

Six members of the Class of 1944, met for lunch and to talk over old times, Saturday. Those present were: Bill Hawver, Cortland, Nordica Holuchuck, Kingston, Marjorie Schellhammer, Cooperstown, Sally Lidell, Sourth Edmeston, Stephen Winters, Garrattsville and Priscilla Turnbull, Edmeston.

Sharon McLean recently purchased a home on Pleasant Avenue in Edmeston and is now comfortably enjoying the sounds of speeding cars, blowen mufflers and squealing tires.  Moving from the quiet country apartment at Bob Kirk's, this is quite a change, but she no longer is a renter, but has a home of her own.  Congratulations Sharon!
 
Ryan Lund and crew were busy this past weekend moving the single wide mobile home on South Street and getting ready to lay a pad for a double wide.
 
Isabelle Kent is now in the Veterans Home in Oxford.
 
Laura Ruffles had a very large, old, mulberry tree break in one of our recent wind/rain storms.  She said this was her very favorite tree and will miss harvesting the mulberries.
 
Pathfinder Concert this Saturday, July 24th will feature Stone Soup, a four piece band, Concert starts at 7:00 P.M.
 
A wedding reception for Ed and Lynne Kline was held Saturday night at the firehouse.  The couple were married July 4th, aboard a cruise ship on a trip to Alaska.  Congratulations to the Kline's.

Saturday evening started off the July/August Pathfinder Concerts.  These are every Saturday evening during July and August. The concerts start at 7:00 P. M. and parking is available on site.  Concert goers are asked to bring lawn chairs and wear appropriate clothing for the evening air.  This Saturday will feature Dan Duggan and Peggy Lynn.  Information on the concerts is available by calling (607) 965 8377, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 A. M. - 4:00 P.M.


A belated Birthday wish to Ethel Edwards who turned 98 on July 11th.

John and Dottie Blackman took three of the grandchildren on a trip to Boston.  They went by bus from Oneonta.

Kyra and Rebeccah Marriner are spending a week with their great grandmother, Eleanor Rider, accompanied by their parents, Chris and Kymberly Marriner of Palmetto, Florida.

The Turnbull Family Reunion was held at Garrattsville, July 3rd, with over thirty in attendance.

Gavin and Hanna Goodier, Atlanta, Georgia, are spending a couple of weeks with Grandma and Grandpa Eriksen.  They are also spending some time with great  grandmother and great grandfather, Irene and Junior Jaquay.
 
The Edmeston Free Library Board met Monday Night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Saunders.

Dale Convis and Tina Button, were united in marriage July 10th at the brides home on County Route 41, in the Town of Columbus.  The double ring ceremony was preformed by retired justice, Leon Schworm.

Letters to over 500 residents of the Edmeston Central School district, are being sent out by the Edmston Rotary Club.  The club is sponsoring a program where a free test kit to test for RADON will be available through the Rotary Club.  Watch for this letter and take advantage of the FREE test kit.
