Little House in the Big Woods Bookclub Update

The first session of the Edmeston Museum book club ended with participants making butter.   We didn’t use a churn like they did in Little House in the Big Woods but rather used jelly jars.   It was so-o-o easy.   In a clean jar, put 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1 teaspoon honey and 2 clean round marbles.   Put the top on the jar and shake for about ten minutes.  It will start to get frothy and then suddenly you will have a glob of butter!  Drain the other contents and refrigerate your butter!

The next session of the Edmeston book club will be held at the museum on August 7th and August 14th at 6:30 p.m to 8ish.   We will focus on the book, The 5,000 Year Puzzle.  This is an activity based club so there will be exploration of rocks, Indian points, etc.  All participants will receive a small bag of tumbled rocks to take home.  On August 14th, we will be using metal detectors!   All elementary and junior high school students (living in Edmeston or visiting relatives in our area) are welcome to attend.   To register, contact Deb at edmestonmuseum@gmail.com

The Edmeston Museum is open the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 9a to 12n along with the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 6p-8p.   Admission is free and all are welcome!
