Sunday, Feb. 4th, will be Legion Breakfast time again! Serving from 7:00 – 10:30 A.M. at the Legion Hall. Juice, beverage, pancakes, French toast, toast, bacon, sausage, home fires, hash and eggs just the way you like them A great way to start the day, and its by donation!
The Peet Hook Players will be presenting “In the Spirit”, 8:00 P.M. Feb. 1, 2 & 8 P.M. Feb. 3rd and 2:00 P.M. Feb. 4th, in the school auditorium. Tickets available at the door.
The Edmeston Emergency Squad is looking for people. Perhaps being an active member is not your thing, but there are several ways you can help. If you would like to become an active member, that would be great. For more information contact Dan Osborn, Darlene Camenga or Artie Klingler.
The old saying holds true – “as the days begin to lengthen, the cold begins to strengthen”. Daylight is starting to linger enough now so that it is quite noticeable.
The Bicentennial Book Committee will meet at the home of Bob Nonenmacher, Thursday night. The Bicentennial Committee will meet Monday night at the Town Clerks Office.
Mayor Dave Kent, spoke briefly at the “Club”, Friday evening, about taxes. He reminded those in attendance that it will soon be time for the midgies and that it is no longer clear.

Guess with all the rain earlier and now the cold and snow, people aren’t doing anything as there isn’t much in the line of items for this weeks column.
Shawn Pylinski was recently in Pennsylvania (Armainia Mt.) to help his aunt, Barbara (Bailey) Fields celebrate her 80th birthday. Friends and family celebrated the birthday on the weekend as that is when most of them could get together. The actual date was January 9th.. Happy 80th Barbara!
Carol and Don Turnbull have gone to Swansboro, North Carolina, where Carol will meet her new grand-son. Vickie and Shawn Sumner are the proud parents of a son – William Paul Shawn Sumner, born Jan. 16th. Weight 8lb 11 oz. He was 21 inches long. Congratulations!
Marilyn Davis, Lebanon, Ohio received one of the “Flood 2006” books for Christmas. She writes that she and Tim and Cindy have enjoyed seeing the pictures, but was glad she wasn’t here. There aren’t many of these books left, so if you know of anyone who has intended to get one, but hasn’t, give them a little nudge.
With all the dieting that seems to be taking place since the Holidays, I think Garfield has the answer. He says: We all get heavier as we get older because there’s a lot more information in our heads. So I’m not fat, I’m just really intelligent and my head couldn’t hold any more so it started filling up the rest of me! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

The Annual meeting of the Edmeston Fire Department was held Saturday evening in the meeting rooms of the fire house. The Officers for the year 2007 are: Chief, Artie Klingler;1st Asst. Chief, Lauren Waite; 2nd Asst. Chief, Scott Convis. President, David Green; Vice President, Dan Shute; Secretary, Brent Benjamin and Treasurer, Ruth Hill. The chief announced that the department had answered 114 calls in 2006.
The Emergency Squad is looking for new members or people who would be willing to help in some way. If you are interested or would like to find out more information, contact Dan Osborn, Darlene Camenga or Artie Klingler.
Friday evening the Edmeston Free Library had its annual meeting in the library building. Officers for the year 2007 were elected. They are: President, Priscilla Turnbull, Vice President, John Blackman, Secretary Lorraine Corts, and Treasurer, Leon Schworm
There are still a few of the “Flood 2006” books left. If you did not get your copy, they are still available at the bank, but there aren’t many left, so don’t put off getting one!

Mayor Dave Kent, disappointed to have to cancel the snow blower races, New Years Eve, is considering changing it to Roto Tiller Races. If our weather continues, it might not be a bad idea.
Gary Harrington has been out looking at his lawn, as well as his lawn mower. Thinking it will soon be time to start mowing (he likes to be the first kid on the block to mow) Better wait Gary, I think we may still have some Winter ahead of us!
The Edmeston Bicentennial Committee met at the Town Clerks Office, Monday night to continue working on plans for the 200th Birthday of Edmeston.
The Annual meeting of the Edmeston Free Library, will be held at the Library, Friday evening, 7:00 P.M. January 12, 2007.
In honor of her 80th Birthday, the children, grand children & great grand children, had a Birthday Party for Priscilla Turnbull, at the Legion Hall on Saturday, January 6th (the actual day). Over 70 friends and relatives attended.
The Annual meeting of the Edmeston Volunteer Fire Department will be at 7:00 P.M., January 13, 2007. All members of active status are encouraged to attend.
